Eat Your Way To Bed: Top 8 Sleep-Inducing Foods

Approximately 11% of all U.S. adults experience trouble sleeping every night. Can you relate?

Sleep is more important than you might think, yet it’s hard for many people to get enough. If you want to improve your health, you’ll need to get more sleep, and you might be able to sleep more effectively by eating the right foods.

Did you know that there are sleep-inducing foods? That’s right; some foods help you sleep, and here are eight that you can try for yourself.

1. Almonds

One of the best sleep-inducing foods to try is almonds. Almonds contain the ingredient tryptophan. This ingredient encourages the production of serotonin in the brain, and it helps you relax.

If you crunch on a few almonds before bed, you might fall asleep faster.

2. Milk

Milk is another food that you can try if you want to sleep more effectively. Milk also contains the ingredient tryptophan. It also contains melatonin, which is a chemical that regulates sleep patterns.

The best way to consume milk before bed is to warm it up first. Drinking warm milk is relaxing and might help you sleep more soundly.

3. Dark Chocolate

While some foods that help induce sleep might seem logical, others might surprise you. One food that might surprise you is dark chocolate.

Most people believe that avoiding chocolate before bed is smart due to the caffeine found in chocolate. When it comes to dark chocolate, it’s different, though.

Dark chocolate supplies you with a dose of serotonin to your brain, which is a chemical that helps you relax.

4. Kiwi

Kiwi, too, is loaded with serotonin, and it’s also packed with antioxidants. As a result, eating one or two kiwis before bed might help you sleep better. Other fruits can also help you sleep more soundly, including bananas.

5. Rice

Rice is another food that can help you fall asleep and stay asleep more effectively. After eating rice, your body tends to see an increase in insulin. If you wait several hours afterward, you might find that you sleep more soundly.

6. Chamomile Tea

Most people are familiar with the correlation between chamomile tea and sleep, so you might want to try drinking a cup of tea of chamomile tea before you go to bed.

This type of tea is relaxing, helping you fall asleep faster. To improve this even further, you can try using guided meditations for deep sleep. This combination can make a big difference.

7. Cheese and Crackers

Cheese is a dairy product, and all dairy products contain melatonin. If you consume this ingredient before bed, you might sleep better.

8. Honey

The last food that you can try for a better night’s sleep is honey. Honey contains a natural type of sugar that your brain needs to operate while you sleep, so try one or two teaspoons of honey just before bed.

Eat Sleep Inducing-Foods to Sleep Better

Eating sleep-inducing foods can make a difference in your sleep habits, patterns, and quality of rest. Trying some of these might prove beneficial for your sleep and health.
