Ways to Detoxify Your Liver Naturally

One of the most important and hard-working organs in your body is the liver, responsible for utilizing nutrients, filtering the blood, eliminating toxins, and looking for pathogens. To support its continuous functions, the organ needs detoxification from time-to-time to remain healthy, which can be ensured by consuming nutrient-dense foods and herbs.

However, it is not really necessary that you need additional supplements to support your liver; taking a natural approach to healing the liver is equally efficient in removing toxins from the body.

So, here are some easy ways you can follow for natural liver detoxification.

Limit The Intake Of Alcohol and Caffeine

Do you know that more than 90% of alcohol is metabolized in your liver? Excessive drinking can cause a myriad of health problems and severely damage your liver’s functioning by causing inflammation, fat buildup, and scarring. Therefore, it is advised to completely avoid the consumption of alcohol and recreational and pharmaceutical drugs. If you can’t, you must limit your alcohol intake to one to two drinks per day.

Thus, limiting or abstaining entirely from alcohol and other drugs is one of the best ways to ensure that your liver’s detoxification function remains healthy.

Get Adequate and Quality Sleep

Most of the body’s detoxification processes occur while we are sleeping. Experts suggest that you should sleep seven to nine hours per night on a regular basis to promote good optimal health.

Therefore, it is important to ensure that you get adequate and quality sleep each night to support your liver’s overall health and natural detoxification function.

Moreover, poor sleep has also been associated with a plethora of short- and long-term health consequences, including anxiety, stress, heart diseases, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and obesity.

Therefore, you should assess the conscious stressors in your life and adopt a lifestyle to keep such stressors away.

You can speak to your friends and family or a professional therapist about regarding the issues you are facing. Other methods involve spending more time in nature and engaging in activities such as meditation, regular exercise, journaling, and doing what brings you joy.

Eat Antioxidant-rich Foods

Incorporate more antioxidant-rich foods in your regular diet if you are not doing it already, like vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, superfood mushrooms, and vitamin B complexes.

It’s recommended to avoid antioxidants supplements as much as you can and focus more on healthy food. Eating anantioxidants-rich diet in can help your liver fight oxidative stress caused by excess free radicals and other toxins, thus, detoxifying it.

Drink More Water

Water is often underestimated and consumed mainly for quenching your thirst. However, it significantly helps to detoxify your liver by eliminating toxins from your body, regulates your body temperature, and lubricates joints, and aids digestion and nutrient absorption. Therefore, set an alarm to remind you to drink required glasses of water each day.

Conclusion

Therefore, it’s better to take a preventative approach to support regular functioning of your live and eliminate all the toxins you might be exposed to over the course of a lifetime.
