Causes Of Scalp Problems And Its Remedies

People have been dealing with scalp issues for decades. It results in hair thinning, hair falling out, split ends, breakage, or slower growth! Numerous scalp issues are there, and one of the most embarrassing yet discomforting issues is having a peeling or itching scalp or dandruff.

Such scalp or hair problems might be distressing, but these don’t usually occur due to severe medical conditions. Getting rid of the scalp issues, such as itching or soring, start with identifying why your scalp sores or itches.

So, without wasting more time, let’s find out the causes of scalp issues and the top-notch remedies!

1.    Dandruff

The most common scalp issue is dandruff, which are mainly tiny white flakes, or accumulated dead skin. The proper reason for dandruff is still unknown, but it might happen because of fungal infection on the skin.

Remedy

Although there is no permanent solution to this scalp problem, it’s hassle-free to control by choosing sensitive scalp shampoos. All you have to do is leave the shampoo for 5 minutes prior to rinsing. However, see a doctor right away if dandruff doesn’t go away after washing your hair with that special shampoo.

2.    Scalp psoriasis

Approx 50% of the population who have experienced plaque psoriasis could also encounter a flare-up condition on the scalp. This mainly causes when your immune system transmits faulty signals and the skin cells grow faster. People with Scalp psoriasis may have dandruff-like flaking, dry scalp, and reddish patches.

Remedy

While having mild Scalp psoriasis symptoms, the dermatologist might consider providing steroids straight to those areas. On the other hand, phototherapy with a non-laser or laser light source might help if nothing serious happens.

3.    Head Lice

Head lice are the most off-putting but common scalp problem, happen to almost 12 million Americans, ages of 3-11. The head lice infestation is not an indication of unclean surroundings or poor personal hygiene. These mainly transfer from one children’s head to another, feeding on blood.

Remedy

To treat head lice problems, parents have to use products such as permethrin, abametapir (Xeglyze), and pyrethrin (Rid). Various lice kits are available in the market, containing a lice-eliminating shampoo. All you have to leave the shampoo for 10 minutes or less, and finally rinse it with cold water.

4.    Scalp ringworm

Ringworm is mainly an infection, which isn’t caused by worms; instead, it is caused by mold-like fungi, named dermatophytes. When you get ringworm on your scalp, the common symptom will be highly itchy and red rashes.

Remedy

In order to get relief from Scalp ringworm, adequate treatment and diagnosis are needed, such as prescription medication. More precisely, some of the most common medications include terbinafine (Lamisil) and griseofulvin (Gris-Peg).

Conclusion

These are the top 4 common scalp problems, their causes, and effective remedies shown above! Hopefully, you enjoyed this article as it contains all the information related to hair loss. A gentle reminder would be to visit a dermatologist for serious cases. If it’s left untreated, the aforementioned scalp issues might be dangerous.
