How to Have Healthy Roots in 2021: The Tips You Need to Know

Everybody wants long, luxurious hair but that can be difficult to achieve. The secret to healthy hair is having healthy roots. If something feels off about your hair then check your scalp, that might be the source of your problems.

It may be difficult to know where to start but there’s a variety of things you can do to care for your scalp and start the process of getting your dream hair. This guide will go through all types of beautiful hair tips.

The first step to fixing your scalp is knowing what the issues are. Check for different symptoms. This can include hair loss, flakes, greasiness – the works.

Once you know what the issue is, you can see the different ways to treat it. Many people believe that if you have an itchy scalp, it automatically means it’s dry. This isn’t automatically true.

People with oily hair can have an itchy scalp too.

There are a variety of causes for an irritated scalp. It ranges from the diet, hormones to stress, and not shampooing enough. Also, if you’re using too many products, it can lead to a build-up that causes a skin reaction.

The good news is that many of the conditions that come from an unhealthy scalp can be easily treated. There are five main elements to maintaining a healthy scalp and that includes:

  • The right PH balance
  • Cleanliness
  • Moisture and Oils
  • Circulation
  • Protection

When all of these elements are balanced, you’ll notice that your scalp and hair will feel a lot healthier.

What’s Your Hair Cleansing Routine?

If you are still investigating the reason for an unhealthy scalp, try to take note of how often you shampoo and the number of products you use. While it is great for your hair to space out how much you use shampoo, it might not be the best for your scalp. You might also be counterbalancing the lack of shampoo by using other products to maintain your style.

Try alternating how often you use shampoo or try different options like ‘low-poo’ which are milder versions. That way you can see if there’s a part of your hair routine that is causing your scalp to suffer. Regardless, you should be exfoliating your scalp at least twice a month.

This means a deep, thorough clean. Not the usual clean that you’re used to when you’re shampooing. There are a variety of options, both handmade and in-stores, that you can use.

Be Sure To Condition

If you’re afraid of putting conditioner on your scalp, the good news is that it’s not as scary as you might think. The same way your face and body require moisturizer so does your scalp. You’ll just want to make sure that it’s noncomedogenic, so it can be used from your roots to the ends of your hair.

Eat Well and Drink Water

It may be cliche but it’s a cliche for a reason. You are what you eat. A poor diet is often reflected in your hair, skin, and nails.

Malnutrition will be reflected in your appearance so be sure to incorporate tons of veggies and healthy fats in your diet. If your scalp is dry, add more omega-3 and oils. If you’re vegan then be sure you are getting enough protein and iron.

The best nutrients for healthy hair and scalp are zinc, vitamins A, B6, C, and biotin. Also, be sure to drink a lot of water. This may be one of the most important things you can do for healthy roots!

Water plays a huge role in your health but also your skin and scalp. If your body isn’t getting the water it needs, then your skin cells will dry up. This will cause your hair to look dry and dull.

You’ll want to drink about 3 liters of water a day minimum.

Your scalp creates natural oils. These are essential for keeping things healthy and hydrated. As soon as these oils are gone, your scalp can become dry and damaged.

To avoid this, you shouldn’t wash your hair more than twice a week. You should also incorporate a lot of Omega 3 into your diet. Some treatments contain aloe vera or honey, things that will quench your thirsty hair.

If you don’t feel like incorporating foods with healthy fats, there are different vitamins you can take.
