Must-Have Kitchen Equipment to Make Drinks, Desserts, and Other Dishes

If you’re a professional chef, new to cooking, or even if you just like experimenting in the kitchen, you’re going to need certain tools and machines to help you make the dishes you want. Even if you have a specialty (i.e., a special dish, dessert, or drink), having different types of kitchen equipment can inspire you to try other recipes. Here’s a look at five different types of kitchen equipment to consider getting to help you make different drinks, desserts, and other dishes.

#1: Juicer

A juicer is a device that extracts juice from various fruits and vegetables. This is a good machine to have if you’re thinking about doing a juice detox, also known as “juicing”. Juicing allows your body to quickly absorb the nutrients found in fruits and vegetables.

You can juice any fruit or vegetable that has water content (so not avocados, bananas, potatoes, etc.). Keep in mind that you should always consult with your doctor before trying any type of diet. Juicing is okay for a short period because you don’t get any of the necessary fiber from the juices of fruits and vegetables. You’re also missing out on complex carbs, protein, and healthy fats if this is your only meal, but it’s great to do in addition to normal meals.

#2: Portable Blender

A portable blender is typically smaller than a countertop blender, and it has a chargeable battery. A regular blender is a staple piece of equipment found in the majority of kitchens, so having a portable one will provide more convenience for you. You can take these with you when you’re on the go, or you can simply use them as your primary blender to take up less countertop space at the same time.

You can use a blender to chop up and soften a variety of different foods if you don’t have a food processor. However, blenders are typically used to blend drinks like smoothies, milkshakes, and even alcoholic beverages— for those who are of legal age.

#3: Springform Pan

A springform pan is a type of bakeware that has a ring that attaches to a base with a latch that allows you to remove the ring from the base. This is commonly used for deep-dish foods such as pizzas, tacos, casseroles, lasagna, and chicken pot pie, and deep-dish desserts such as streusels, a giant chocolate chip cookies, brownies, cake, s’mores, pies, and cheesecake. The possibilities are endless when it comes to a springform pan because you can make both dinner and dessert with this tool. If you like both cooking and baking, this is definitely something worth investing in.

#4: Whip Cream Charger

A whip cream charger (sometimes simply known as a cream charger) is a device that contains culinary-grade nitrous oxide and a whipping agent. It’s typically used as a whipped cream tool used for topping or infusing desserts with delicious whipped cream or cream filling. You’ll feel like a professional baker with this device.

This device can also be used to create various types of drinks. The most common types of drinks made with a cream charger are cocktails (and their non-alcoholic counterparts known as “mocktails”), such as margaritas and daiquiris. You can also use them to make non-alcoholic beverages, such as Frappuccinos and other coffee-based drinks.

#5: Zester

A zester is a hand-held kitchen utensil that allows you to remove the zest from citrus fruits such as grapefruits, lemons, limes, and oranges. The zest of various citrus fruits adds a tangy taste to several drinks, desserts, and other dishes. Because the zest usually has a bolder flavor than the juice, it’s used in common dishes such as lemon cake and key lime pie.

A regular box grater can work too since most graters have a side just for zesting. However, an actual zester will give you longer strips of citrus zest. This is another tool that will make you feel like a professional chef.

Having these tools and machines can also save you money because you’ll take fewer trips to restaurants that serve these drinks and dishes. These five pieces of kitchen equipment will also allow you to make healthier food choices or indulge in a treat every once in a while. You’ll even be able to get creative and come up with new recipes for drinks and dishes to share with your friends and family. So consider investing in at least one of these kitchen tools or machines today.
