With the holidays just around the corner, we cannot but start thinking about what 2020 will bring to us. According to internet sources, human health and overall wellbeing will be in the focus.
As it’s assumed, there will be a lot of innovation is the way we eat, the way we prepare the food, the food we will consume, and the nutritional supplements we use. Namely, there will be a lot of focus on using supplements for gut health, plant-based products, packed healthy foods, and others. Taking Prebiotics
Prebiotics are supplements that support the growth of healthy bacteria (probiotics). While they were mostly in the shadow until now, in 2020, they will be in the focus. Therefore, we will use them to improve our gut health instead of taking probiotics, as we normally do.
New Plant-based Products
If veganism was seen as something unusual and a diet that is hard to follow, in 2020, it will become much easier.
It’s because it’s assumed that there will be new plant-based products, not just from soy, that will make healthy eating easier.
For instance, there will be products based on grains, seeds (including hempseed, avocado, pumpkin, and watermelon), and mung beans. They will replace conventional dairy products.
Speaking of dairy products, it is believed that coconut-based yogurt will be one of the biggest non-dairy trends the next year.
Also, there will be plant-based kinds of butter and spreads. According to what is found online, instead of using conventional, dairy-based butter and spreads, there will be a seed- and nut-based alternatives.
Different Kind of Dairy Products
While some people look for dairy-free products due to being lactose intolerant or vegan, others enjoy them. In fact, there are many people who are lactose intolerant but don’t want to give up dairies.
That’s why some companies tried to make the impossible. They have created dairy products that are lactose-free. There are also dairy drinks that are rich in proteins and caffeine, as well as organic cottage cheese.
Vegetables in the Focus
2020 will be the year when vegetables will take over the nutrition world. It’s believed that they will start to be used in many other ways we didn’t expect. For instance, they will be used to make meatballs, by being mixed with minced meat.
There will also be combinations, such as veggie-legume-meat, plant-meat nuggets, and similar. And, as mentioned above, veggies will be used to make dairy products, such as yogurt.

Packed Healthy Foods
Here’s great news for all snack-lovers. In 2020, you will be able to stay healthy by eating snacks. Isn’t that amazing? And, it’s true.
There will be healthy alternatives to packet products, such as paste, sauces, and chips. These products won’t contain preservatives, stabilizers, or artificial thickeners, just fresh, healthy ingredients.
Therefore, instead of eating a high-carb chocolate bar, you will eat chocolate covered-crispy quinoa. Or, instead of conventional chips, you will eat cauliflower and broccoli chips. There will also be green pea and lentil pasta, tomato sauces which contain nothing but a tomato juice and basil.
Sugar Alternatives
You have probably heard of healthy sugar alternatives such as erythritol and stevia and the natural sweetener – the monk fruit. Until now, they have been used by people following a low-carb diet or those who have diabetes type 2.
But, in the year to come, their use will expand, and with that, new natural sweeteners will be created. Therefore, apart from an extract from monk fruit, there will also be pomegranate sweeteners made from pomegranate juice and seeds.
Alternative Flours
Using wholemeal and white flour has long been seen as unhealthy. That’s why many companies have started producing alternative flours, such as brown rice and coconut flour. But, due to looking for healthier options, people will replace the regular flour with other types, including oat, almond, chickpea, nut, millet, and buckwheat flours.
Using Hemp Seeds
Ok, so let’s make it clear – hemp seeds are not a drug and are safe to consume. It’s because they don’t have the same characteristics as cannabis and won’t get you high.
The reason why they will become widely-used products in 2020 is that they are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, amino acids and proteins, low in carbs, and good for your gut health. As a result, it is a great meat replacement for vegans, so you can expect to see it as an ingredient in smoothies, salads, and healthy breakfast bowls.
It can be concluded that healthy nutrition will be in the focus the next year. People will recognize food as the ultimate remedy and the best way to prevent unwanted health conditions. That’s why they will turn to consume nutrient-rich products, such as meat, milk, nuts, seeds, grains, and vegetables.
